Choosing a private jet starts with understanding the categories, since distance, passenger count, baggage, and runway access all affect which aircraft makes sense. Very light jets seat four to six passengers and suit quick regional trips, reaching smaller airports that larger jets can’t. Light jets extend range to around 2,000 miles and offer more cabin and baggage space for short-haul business travel. Midsize jets seat seven to nine passengers and cover most coast-to-coast domestic routes, making them the most versatile option. Super-midsize jets offer roughly 3,500 to 4,000 miles of range with a quieter, more spacious cabin, while large-cabin jets seat 10 to 16 passengers and travel 4,000 to 6,000 miles or more, ideal for larger groups and long international routes.
