A Factory Acceptance Test gives you the opportunity to find and correct problems before plastic recycling equipment leaves the manufacturer, but only if you prepare properly. Defining acceptance criteria before the FAT date ensures both parties are working from the same requirements on test day, covering throughput targets, feedstock definition, output size, controls, alarms, and emergency stops. Comparing the equipment against approved drawings and purchase orders before any material runs confirms that the manufacturer built what was ordered, including motors, gearboxes, screen size, and safety components. Agreeing on test material and attendees in advance ensures the right people are present to make decisions and that the feedstock used actually reflects real operating conditions rather than ideal ones. Running the FAT with agreed feedstock while recording throughput, motor load, vibration, and control function results generates the documented evidence needed to evaluate performance against the protocol. And closing out the punch list before signing, specifying what happened, what was expected, and whether each issue must be resolved before shipment or can wait for commissioning, ensures nothing is treated as resolved before it actually is. A thorough FAT at the manufacturer’s facility is always easier than discovering the same problems after the equipment has been installed.
